Book your Ferry tickets via OceanJet
As a family of four, we were already going to Bohol in our itinerary and therefore found it easy for us to go via Ferry from Bohol to Siquijor and then back to Cebu.
The Ferry is a comfortable, reasonably cheap mode of transport to see the islands around the Philippines. Have a read of our blog detailing the information for OceanJet on our blog, this gives all the information regarding buying tickets, what the tickets are and how to transport your luggage on the Ferry.

Transport On The Island
There are multiple options for transport on the island from when you get off at the port to getting around during the time you are there. We opted to hire two motorbikes while on the island as it gave us the freedom to go and see the sights we wanted, discover the hidden gems and be independent.
Motorbike Rental
We highly recommend hiring your bikes through Dodong Motor Rental Siquijor. Anne, the owner, is extremely accommodating, and friendly and has information on all the best places to see.
Tricycles
Tricycles are an easy mode of transport, they are situated at the Port and driving around the island. You can hail them down easy enough and most riders understand basic English to get you to where you want to go. Their services can be hired for the day with a negotiated rate and locations you want to go to.
A standard fare from the Port to your accommodation depending on how far away it is can be up to 500PHP.
Ask your hotel or accommodation to book you a tricycle if you need to be collected at a specific time for the ferry or to take you to your tour location.
Tours
The majority of the tour companies can be found near the Port or the town centre, they have all sorts of tours available and it can be best to know the items you want to see before going to chat to them about it. Your accommodation also can book any tours or items you want to see as they have all the local contacts. Please keep reading to see the local attractions that we recommend.
Private transfers
The main area for accommodation and resorts is over near Paliton Beach, which is a good 30 minute drive from the Port. If your accommodation offers a Private Transfer, Van transfer or Pick-up, I would definitely take it as the minivans are extremely comfortable and they will be waiting for you at the Ferry Port.
Accommodation
On Siquijor there is quite an array of different types of Accommodation ranging from the Top End resorts that have their own private beach, villas and include amenities like Breakfast and Swimming Pools to Hostels, Guesthouses and Airbnbs.
Guest Houses
Guest Houses are the most popular and most widely available accommodation on the Island. These are scattered from the Port right around the Island with majority being over near Paliton Beach.
We opted for a Guest House that was closer to the Port, Restaurants and Grocery Store just for the ease of having a simple breakfast and then finding a reasonably cheap lunch and dinner.
Our pick is La Familia Guest House
It had really nice Family Rooms with a queen bed, bunk, table and chairs, bathroom and access to a swimming pool. It was also just a short walk to a private beach that had the most beautiful white sand and turquoise water.
However, there are so many guest houses to choose from that it just depends on your budget, location and how many people you have travelling with you.
Airbnbs
The properties available on AirBNB are absolutely stunning, you can find Villas on their own private beach, accommodations for large groups and resort/guesthouse style rooms. Definitely book in advance as they can become booked out due peak travel periods and the lower amount of properties available on the Island. Also remember to check on the map as to where they are located as some Airbnbs can be along way from anything and therefore cause issues for transportation and getting food.

Resorts
As for resorts on the Island, there are a few large ones over in the San Juan region of the island and they are very nice. There are no large hotel/resort chains here on the island so you will need to do your research into the best ones. Here are some below that we drove past while on the Island.
- Coco Grove Beach Resort
- White Villas Resort
- Kalachuchi Beach Resort
- Infinity Heights Resort
Food
The Philippines has an amazing array of food and Siquijor is a place where you can find it all. From street food, cafes, fast food and restaurants there is a multitude of options.
The Best Place we found was every night from 5 pm just near the Port was a concrete area where all the street vendors brought in their grills and you could choose what meat you wanted to be grilled, with the choice of rice and soup as a side. All the vendors are extremely friendly, there is plenty of seating and you can try the famous Charcoal Ice Cream!

More Options are:
Sunset Restaurant
Luca Loko Restaurant
Bu Café (at the top of a mountain)
Jacobs Food Hut (at the Port)
Fast Food:
Jolibee
Attractions
Waterfalls, waterfalls and more waterfalls are located on this Tiny Island. However, if you don’t want to spend your days chasing waterfalls there are beautiful white sandy beaches, a magical tree, an underground river, plenty of snorkelling and diving spots and an uncountable amount of picturesque places for photos.
Canbangag Falls
If you want a memorable adventure then finding Canbangag falls is definitely for you. Hire a motorbike and put it into google maps. However, do not trust the google maps directions! You are better off typing in Canbangag Falls parking and following the directions to there. From the parking it is roughly a 20 minute walk to the falls. Remember to take everything you need here as the closest anything is a far distance.

Locong Falls
Locong is a beautiful spot to relax. It also has some low waterfall areas that you can jump off of and great for the kids to test their limits. There is also a rope swing if you want to challenge yourself. This is an easy walk from the parking area and there is a small fee to enter.
Zodiac Falls
This is a must do adventure on Siquijor. There are 13 waterfalls in total and if you hire a guide for a small fee at the entry they will take you for a reverse canyoneering adventure. It takes a few hours to get to the top and on the way the guide will explain each waterfall, take photos for you and let you swim in each one if you want. Take only your camera/phone and a waterproof bag as you won’t need towels or a change of clothes until you get back to the carpark.
Sambulawan Underground River
Another surreal experience here! Get ready to get head to toe underground. At this amazing spot you will be taken by a guide down a lot of stairs into a cave and into a underground river. The water is clear as can be and flows through the rocks from one of the other waterfalls in the area.

Beaches
The beaches listed below are the most famous or well-documented beaches on Siquijor, however, wherever you can find a white sandy patch of beach on the island you will not be disappointed. The water is clear and coloured an amazing shade of turquoise. The beaches are a fine white power and very clean. The oceans are calm, unless there is a storm, and they are very safe to swim at.
